Zurich producer and DJ Robert Jan Meyer aka Minus 8 released since 1996 already 6 albums on labels as Sony, Compost Records, Stereo Deluxe and Mole Listening Pearls.
The records are: Beyond (1996), Beyond Beyond (1998), Elysian Fields (2000), Viktor Vogel – Commercial Man (Soundtrack, 2001), Minuit (2002), Eclectrica (2004).

Robert launched many compilations as f.e. "Science Fiction Jazz 1-10", "Batucada 1-3", „Blue Note Weekend“ on Blue Note Records. His own tracks appeared on over 100 compilations as „Cafe Del Mar“, „Hotel Costes“, „DJ Kicks“, „Fashion Week“ etc.

Minus 8 played on many festivals like Amsterdam Dance Valley, Montreux Jazz und Roskilde and he went on tour in Australia, in the United States and in Asia and he played in many countries as Russia, Cuba, England, Germany, Denmark, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Slokawia and Poland.

His passion for movies lead him to compose music for many films, short films, spots and trailers. Apple used a Minus 8 track for the worldwide campaign of the Apple Powerbook. Robert also composed the score for german movie „Viktor Vogel – Commercial Man“ (Columbia Pictures).

Minus 8 is a very versatile DJ. He likes to play from Downtempo, Jazz, Hip Hop and Soul to Disco, Nu Disco to contemporary House, Electro House, Deep House and Minimal.

Der Zürcher Producer und DJ Robert Jan Meyer alias Minus 8 hat seit 1996 bereits sechs Alben mit eigenen Stücken auf Labeln wie Sony, Compost Records, Stereo Deluxe und Mole Listening Pearls (das er mit seiner ersten Compilation mitbegründete) veröffentlicht. Es sind dies: Beyond (1996), Beyond Beyond (1998), Elysian Fields (2000), Viktor Vogel - Commercial Man (Soundtrack, 2001), Minuit (2002), Eclectica (2004).

Er hat auch zahlreiche Compilations ins Leben gerufen, darunter sind: "Science Fiction Jazz 1-10", "Batucada 1-3", „Denim & Leather“ (mit Heavy Metal Music!) oder „Blue Note Weekend“ auf dem renommierten Label Blue Note. Seine eigenen Stücke erschienen auf weit über 100 Compilations wie "DJ Kicks", „Cafe Del Mar“, „Hotel Costes“, „Fashion Week“ u.v.a.

Robert Jan Meyer alias Minus 8 legte als DJ an an prestigeträchtigen Festivals wie Amsterdam Dance Valley, Montreux Jazz und Roskilde auf und ging auf Tournee in Australien, den USA, zahlreichen Ländern in Asien und spielte u.a. in Russland, Kuba, England, Deutschland, Dänemark, Italien, Frankreich, Holland, Griechenland, Georgien, Litauen, in der Slowakei und in Portugal.

Seine Leidenschaft für die Filmmusik führte dazu, dass er schon diverse Filme, Kurzfilme, Spots und Trailers vertonen konnte (Apple Macintosh hatte für die weltweite Kampagne zur Lanzierung des Powerbook einen Song von Minus 8 gewählt. Auch hatte R.J. Meyer die Filmmusik des deutschen Kinofilms Viktor Vogel – Commercial Man (Columbia Pictures) geschrieben).

Als DJ ist Minus 8 sehr vielseitig. Er beherrscht diverse Stile von langsamem Downtempo / Lounge / Jazz bis zu tanzbarer Musik im Stile von Disco zu allen Sparten von House zu Hip Hop und Breakbeats.
